The start of the day for us is but the end of the night. Pitch black. Nothing to see and yet, as we leave the camp, two lions block our route. Isn't that bloody typical?
No-one asks where the bloody things spent the night.
See? It wasn't me snoring all this time...
Further along, as the sun lifts lifts itself out of the ashes like a phoenix reborn, we stumble upon a gigantic herd of gigantic beasts
...and then another!
Well look here. A clutch of giant kittens.
Cuddly huh?
But then they go and grow up...
Bustards...
Then we stumble upon these guys. They’re definitely up to something.
He's off!
Well. Back to reality. It's no longer up to the king of the jungle, it's his erstwhile lovers who dictate the pace.
His two paramours are leaping about with-post-coital joy.
Occasionally stopping at the local bars for a wee dram.
Meanwhile, Mr King of the Bloody Jungle tries to keep pace in exactly the same way as any other male being dragged around the shops.
We gave up following them on their shopping spree as they crossed into realms that we are not privileged to enter.
So, instead, we saw yet a further pride, this time with stroppy youths...
The day was waning, so it was time to take photos of elephants again. Here's a small one.
And to help you feel refreshingly at one with your diet...
As the evening came to a close, we caught a three second glimpse of our first, day-lit, leopard.
Ok. Not long enough? Use the elephant gambit...
We are now heading home. Watch out for mobile rocks...
Our evening was spent trying to watch the local ten billion wildebeest.
Next time, I'll try counting sheep...
