Our search for Painted Wolves (Wild Dogs) was not going well. The extreme rainfall over the last few months has led to flooding, damage to the roads and high rates of plant growth making spotting wildlife a little tricky.
Thus we took a day off from the drives and tried by river.
Ir was certainly easier to see things. Although these are difficult to miss unless submerged, which they often were...:
There are literally hundreds of these hippos in just this small section of river.
In a boat surrounded by the most dangerous wild mammals in Africa...
These monitor lizards seem safe enough.
And more baboons to cheer us up.
But there are thousands of these...
Now is the time to practice a bit of bird photography...,
But no wild dogs.
Ok try Plan C. Let's try walking...
Thankfully our guides had an elephant gun and an AK45. This termite hill was thus no match for us.
We finished our walk with a traditional sundowner...
Good night all.
